What Are Porcelain Dental Veneers?
Porcelain Dental Veneers are an excellent way to enhance your smile. They can whiten and reshape the look of your teeth making a more youthful smile. Porcelain Dental Veneers can help correct issues like staining, cracked teeth, misaligned teeth, spaces, and chipped teeth. A veneer is a false front that is made of porcelain and permanently adhered to your natural tooth.
What Can I Expect?
Explain to Dr. Gray and the conservative dentistry team the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment, Dr. Gray will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations. With our iTero digital scanner, we can create an image of your mouth and bite digitally. The results are stored on your digital file and sent electronically to the lab. The digital imaging process is less intrusive, more comfortable and more accurate than the traditional method (using an impression material and trays).
During this latex free procedure your teeth will be prepared under local anesthetic to accept the veneer, by removing a thin layer of tooth structure- about 1/2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Then, a digital image of your teeth will be taken with the iTero scanner and sent off to our lab along with detailed instructions as to color and shape, thus insuring that they are custom made and suited for you. After about 10 days, your veneers will be ready. We will try them in and make sure you love the look and feel before permanently adhering them in place. With proper care your new smile will last for years to come.
